A film festival in Malaga for lovers of fantastic, science-fiction and horror movie genres. This film festival, also known as “FANCINE Malaga”, has been celebrated annually since 1990. This year it will be celebrated for one week, between the 21st and 28th November. So if you will be around Malaga during that time, this might be a really authentic way to spend a couple of hours enjoying suspense and great cinema.
FANCINE is promoted by Malaga University and supported by the European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation (EFFFF). It is one of the most popular international festivals of the audiovisual context in Andalusia. The festival will take place in the cinema Albeniz, located in the historic city centre, screening an average of 15 movies per day on three different screens, every afternoon from the 22nd until the 28th, from 5pm – 12.45am.
In between the films projected there will be some horror classics like La Mosca (The Fly), El Dr. Frankenstein and El Hombre Elefante (The Elephant Man), some short films produced by the universities divided into animation or fiction genres, and some long films, also produced by the universities, such as “After”, “Breakaway”, “Cheap Thrills”, “Kills of Dammed”, among others that will be competing for the best “fantastic” film of this year.
The short films competition is already open on the official FANCINE website; if you want an appetizer of horror before the festival starts, go online, watch them and vote for your favourite!
If you want to download the projections schedule, we have the program here for you.
The cinema entries are 2€ per person. To secure your tickets, you can buy them in advance from now in the Albeniz cinema after 4.30pm (Calle Alcazabilla 4, 29015. Malaga)
