No matter if you are starting a relationship, you want to impress someone you love, or you are going on a first date, Malaga has a wide range of romantic spots to have a wonderful and unforgettable experience with your special person.
In this blog we want to show you 7 romantic things to do in Malaga that your partner will absolutely love!
1. Watch Malaga sunset
Is there something more romantic than a sunset? I don’t think so. And, moreover, if you watch it on a beautiful beach or on a terrace with views all over ‘Málaga La Bella’ (Beautiful Malaga), it turns out to be breathtaking.
My favorite place to watch the sunset is El Balenario beach, but there are many additional options. If you want to know the best places to watch the sunset in Malaga, check this article out.
2. Visit ‘El Jardín Botánico de Málaga’ (Malaga’s Botanic Garden)
This beautiful spot is located in Camino del Jardín Botánico, 3 and it’s the biggest garden in the city. This natural area is full of trees, plants, and flowers.
Also, it has some historical buildings inside. The most famous and photographed is ‘The Historical Viewpoint’ which has views of the cathedral, the castle and Gibralfaro Hill, the Malaga Hills and the Mediterranean Sea.
3. Have and Italian evening in Churriana with stunning views all over Malaga
Bella Vista Pizzorante is one of the most romantic restaurants in Malaga. It has a stunning view of the city, live music and traditional Italian decoration.
Their pizzas are delicious and it’s the perfect environment for a date.
4. Have a picnic on the beach
This romantic plan is perfect for all budgets and it never disappoints! Grab a wine bottle, some cheese and Iberian ham (jamón ibérico), and go to the beach with your partner. Sea breeze, the sounds of waves, and the heat of the sun: what else do you need?
Also, if you want to impress your date with your culinary skills, you can try to cook some Spanish dishes such as salmorejo, or tortilla de patatas. Tasty!
Some beaches in Malaga city that I like to have a picnic are:
- El Balneario Beach
- Peñón del Cuervo Beach
- Sacaba Beach
5. Get yourself lost in a white village
Nerja, Frigiliana, Mijas Pueblo… these are some of the charming villages near Malaga where you can lose yourself with your partner on a date. They have a wide range of Mediterranean restaurants to choose from, stunning hidden spots, sea views and a charming atmosphere that both of you will love!
Also, you can plan some one day trips from Malaga and have a little adventure!
6. Watch a movie in the Drive-in Malaga
Watching a movie in the Drive-in is another excellent romantic thing to do in Malaga. Metrovacesa Drive-In is located in Guadalhorce industrial area and it’s an open and big space where you can watch a film, eat in some of its American food trucks or participate in some of the monthly events that they organise.
You can see their schedule here.
7. Go to a musical together
Antonio Banderas, who is originally from Malaga, opened his own theatre in 2019 and currently, you can find some great pieces of theatre and musicals.
It’s located in the Soho neighborhood, the most multicultural area in the city, right next to Malaga port and the city centre.
