Best plans in Malaga this April [for all budgets]

Honestly, who doesn’t love the month April? It’s one of the best months of the year to travel, visit new places and enjoy the warmth of the sun. Even though we have 300 days of sun every year in Malaga, April is the ideal month to go for long beach walks and participate in outdoor events, as the heat is not as excessive as in summer. 

That’s why we have put together five incredible plans and events that you can enjoy this April in Malaga. And what’s better, they are for all the budgets and preferences: from Holly week’s processions to Book fair or international fairs! 

1. Rita’s Brunch

Rita’s Brunch is the perfect weekend event with all the necessary elements to have a blast: live music, foodstrucks, an outdoor terrace and a young and vibrant atmosphere! 

This fun space is located in ‘Malaga Autocine’, the second-largest drive-in theater in Europe, in Poligono Guadalhorce. It is a huge space with more than 16000 m2 that is open all year and holds different types of cultural events: festivals, movies, exhibitions…

This weekend, on Saturday 2nd, it’s the GRAND AMERICAN PARTY. You will enjoy beer pongs, beer drinking contests, street food, live music, shishas and much more! 

Also, they have a children’s zone where they will be able to play safely, and they are proudly pet friendly.

2. Artisan craft market in Plaza de la Merced

Every first Sunday of the month in Plaza de la Merced, you can visit an artisan craft market full of clothes, jewelry, or sculpture. Most of the artisans of the region participate in and sell their unique creations such as home decoration, paintings, ceramics…

Also, you will be able to taste delicious street food and homemade pastries.

3. Malaga’s Semana Santa (Holy Week)

This is, without a doubt, the most important event, not only of this month, but yearly. After three long years of pandemic, it’s the first time Malagueños will be able to celebrate their ‘Semana Santa’. 

This sacred week, which is so solemn for Spanish people, is full of processions all over the city. This year it will take place from 9th to 17th April and it will be one of the biggest events of the year.

4. Malaga Book Fair 2022

For book and art lovers, Malaga Book Fair will be held the last week of the month in Plaza de la Marina. It’s the perfect occasion to walk around the city center and let oneself go through the cultural events and exhibitions you will be able to participate in. 

Malaga Book Fair will be celebrated from 29th April to 4th May. There will be a stand of the most important libraries of Malaga, as well as from renowned editorial companies. 

Also, some authors will be invited to do book signings and meet their readers! 

5. Feria de los pueblos (Village’s fair) in Fuengirola

The Feria de los Pueblos (Village’s fair) is one of the most known ‘ferias’ all over the region. Its particularity resides in the multicultural atmosphere you can witness there, as every stand is a tribute to a specific country. As if, you will be able to listen to different types of music, taste all types of food and be able to mingle with people from all over the world. What an event! 

There is also an international parade that will take place on Saturday, April 30th, and folk groups with more than 1000 participants. 

This is the perfect plan also for children, as there are plenty of fairground rides for them. 

The Feria de los Pueblos will be taking place in ‘Recinto Ferial de Fuengirola’ from Wednesday 27th April to 2th May. In the image below you can check all the country participants.
